SANSKRITI
(Classes on Indian Culture)
Inception: In order to instill spiritual ideas, human values and Indian Culture, Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj wanted to introduce classes for children in the Vivekananda Cultural Center (VCC), Shillong. Rev. Swami Prameyanandaji Maharaj, the then Vice President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission (April 1993-October 2011), approved the plan and provided his ideas for the institution, which formed the basis of Sanskriti.
The main objectives of the Sanskriti Classes were:
1. Creation of an ambient get-together point at VCC where people from various walks of life, would get together for discussion of spiritual and cultural values.
2. Act as a deterrent to fast westernization of the masses and impart our own traditional cum cultural values.
3. Provide exposure to Bhagawad Geeta, Yoga and Indian Schools of Thought.
Activities
Classes are held on Sundays only.
Timings: 3: 00 pm to 5:30 pm
Age group: 8 yrs to 14 yrs
Number of Seats: 60
Admissions: In the month of March every year. Application forms shall be issued from February.
Fees: Rs. 250/- per month
