Our Journey: From Library to Youth Forum

In 1997, the Brahmananda Library at Vivekananda Cultural Center Shillong was established with the dedication of numerous volunteers. But their passion did not wane after its completion. Instead, they decided to form a study circle, focusing on Swami Vivekananda's works and other profound literature. Under the mentorship of Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj (Girja Maharaj), the Vivekananda Youth Forum was born in 2002 with 25 enthusiastic members. The forum divided into two groups - the core and the general group. The core members delved into scriptural texts and discussions, while the general group actively participated, often transitioning into the core group. Following Swami Vivekananda's spirit of Karma-Yoga, unselfish work and service became integral motives for the forum. The members would often go for outdoor forums to visit other Math centres or to important pilgrim places in and around the state. The forum would occasionally be attended by Maharajs or experienced guests in other fields and hold good discussions with the members.

Empowering the Youth: A Platform for Growth

Vivekananda Youth Forum serves as a platform for young minds to understand the essence of work and its profound secrets. Over time, the forum hosted esteemed monks, granting members unique opportunities to learn and collaborate. At present, the forum stands strong with 25 committed members and numerous eager newcomers. If you're 16 years or above, join us on Sundays from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm for guided meditation, Vedic chanting, group discussions, and future forecasts. After a month of active participation, registration awaits you.

Inspired by Swami Vivekananda's wisdom, we work selflessly, ensuring smooth execution of events like Cultural Competitions, Durga Puja, and various other occasions throughout the year.
