    50th Annual Cultural Competition 2024

 The prize distribution ceremony for the 50th Annual Cultural Competition was held on the 31st of August at 3.00 p.m. at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road, Shillong and a total of 269 (two hundred sixty nine) prize winners belonging to 55 different institutes from the city of Shillong and Sohra were awarded prizes during the ceremony. Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong has been organizing this competition for the last 5 decades providing a platform to showcase the potential of young minds. The event drew more than 3300 enrollments from 89 different institutes and 2072 students participated in the competition.

Shri C. H. Vijayashankar, Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  He echoed the words of Swami Vivekananda as he felt privileged to speak from the same dais which was sanctified by the great Swami. He urged everyone to have concentration of mind as propounded by him which can do wonders. He lauded the endeavors of people who consecutively did this for 50 years.

Swami Achyuteshanandaji  Maharaj, Member of the governing body, Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math, in his speech reminded everyone of the services of Ramakrishna Mission in general and Meghalaya in particular which worked towards bridging communities. The ambience of the place and hospitality of the people can be a model to the rest of the country.

Among other dignitaries who adorned the stage were Shri Osmond Ewen Jyrwa Nongbri, Managing Director, The Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd, Shillong who too felt joy in supporting the talents of the city.

Swami Vedeshananda Maharaj while proposing the vote of thanks, informed everyone that the year 2024 is significant, as apart from the Golden jubilee of the cultural competitions this marks the completion of 100 years of service of Ramakrishna Mission in Meghalaya.

Earlier, Swami Hitakamanandaji Maharaj welcomed everyone to the ceremony and indicated that these competitions are to hone the inherent proficiency of the young minds and inculcate self confidence.
